Our Mission

Our Mission

 As members of the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, the Muskego American Legion Post 356 is committed to our foundation of the four pillars of the American Legion: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. These pillars support the ideas of promoting a better understanding of the principles of democracy; inculcating among all people a higher appreciation of the benefits and responsibilities of American citizenship; advocating patriotism and honor; promoting strong national security; mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities; and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers, all veterans and their families.

Muskego American Legion Post 356 strives to meet this Mission by the following;

Veteran Affairs & Rehab

  • Final respects through our Burial Detail and Casket Guards,
  • Sponsorship of the semi-annual Disabled Vet fish fry,
  • Stocking stuffers for local VA,
  • Participation in the annual American Legion Auxiliary poppy distribution,
  • Commemorative walkway at Muskego Old Settlement site,
  • Recognition of retired Vets in local Assisted Living facilities,
  • Remembrance of Post members who have passed away,
  • Donate to Honor Flight Network,
  • Donate to Wisconsin Fisher House,
  • Donate to Camp American Legion,
  • Partner with the Muskego Moose Lodge to sponsor an annual Veterans Day dinner,
  • Visit sick and infirmed Veterans,
  • Annually replace flags on veteran graves in local cemeteries,

 National Security

  • Post directs donations to support of our troops,
  • Stocking stuffers to support deployed troop’s morale,
  • Honoring the memory of our POW’s and MIA’s at all meetings and Post sponsored events,

 Americanism

  • Public display of Post sponsored flags along Muskego major thoroughfares,
  • Color guard participation in Municipal events,
  • Firing squad and Flag ceremonies at veteran recognition ceremonies,
  • Ceremonial retirement of unserviceable flags,
  • Honor guard for Muskego Police annual awards ceremony,
  • Maintaining a Veterans Memorial at Muskego City Hall and Historical Sites,
  • Sponsored a bus tour to the Veteran High Ground located in Clark County Wisconsin in 2017,
  • A Commemorative Partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration,

 Children and Youth

  • Annual Post 356 Muskego Highschool scholarship program,
  • Participation in the regional Oratorical,
  • Sponsoring Badger Boys State,
  • Support Muskego Athletic Association,
  • Sponsor Eagle Scout Projects,
